Overview
Job Description — IP Semiconductor Service Engineer needed for on-site support of new equipment installations and maintenance at various European-based customer sites. Semiconductor Service engineers repair, service and optimise Canon’s semiconductor machines at customer sites. The engineer will work on various kinds of Canon semiconductor equipment and collaborate with customers to maintain uptime of busy production equipment. Interaction with customers is essential in the job, so a positive outlook and flexible approach are required. Travel to various European sites will be required.
Responsibilities
- Service – Provide service support to customers in line with service guidelines and good practice, including on-site machine inspection, machine testing and quality checking, machine repairs, fault diagnosis, ordering parts as necessary, and follow-up support to meet customer needs.
- Installation – Install machines on site in line with installation guidelines, complete all necessary equipment receipt and inspection activities, assemble, fine-tune to specification and carry out qualification/optimisation per customer requirements.
- Administration – Provide general service administration in line with customer requirements, complete technical reports and documentation, provide telephone and email support to customers, order tools/parts as required, and ensure compliance with all H&S regulations.
- Training – Provide formal training to customers as required.
- Specialist Service – Undertake specialised service work, replacing specific units in accordance with guidelines and specifications. Work with Theta Z units, projection lens, X-Y stage and OPTF replacements.
- Knowledge Management – Maintain specialist knowledge, improve technical know-how of self and colleagues, study service reports and documentation, stay aware of software upgrades and attend relevant training to meet customer requirements.
- Canon Brand Ambassador & Customer liaison – Advise customers on technical issues, act as spokesperson for Canon, resolve technical problems with other engineers, and liaise with Operations Manager (Japan or Amsterdam) to ensure customer requirements are satisfied. Provide technical support during installation and other service activities.
An amount of foreign travel is a key part of the role and is expected.
Qualifications
- Minimum HNC in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
- High standard of written and spoken English and numeracy skills.
- Electrical or electronic background for a minimum of 3 years.
- Mechanical skills advantageous.
- Computer literate with good competence of standard software including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Good interpersonal skills and a flexible approach.
- Proven employment track record.
- Clean driving licence.
- Non-essential skills that would be advantageous.
- Previous lithography experience would be beneficial.
