Project Manager (Government and Defence)
Location: Hybrid (London or Cheltenham) with travel to QA sites when required.
Responsible for ensuring project objectives are achieved within agreed timescales and budget, while maintaining quality measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Successful delivery of medium to large complex learning and engagement programmes.
- Work closely with client stakeholders and consultants or SMEs to scope objectives, deliverables, timelines, dependencies, assumptions, risks and quality acceptance criteria.
- Create and maintain project tools and documents, including project plan, RAID log and RACI.
- Support programme resourcing by defining content expertise and managing briefing processes.
- Manage operational risk within sensible parameters, escalating risks and issues when necessary; organise and run SteerCo when risks are many or high.
- Manage a complex network of client stakeholders, internal and external resources and external suppliers across project workstreams.
- Track and manage project budget within agreed parameters; understand and use project tolerances where needed.
- Provide ongoing direction, support and motivation of the project team to deliver quality continuity.
Required Experience
- Fully familiar with project lifecycle and methodologies and hold an industry recognised qualification such as PRINCE2 or APMG PMQ.
- Minimum of five years managing complex projects for a range of clients; experienced in producing and managing project tools and documentation.
- Ability to work in both agile and classic waterfall environments.
- Experience in complex scheduling of project resources.
- Experience in effectively managing or mitigating against risk.
- Experience in communicating complex issues at various stakeholder levels, including C‑suite.
- Proven experience influencing stakeholders to drive change successfully.
- Willingness to travel for client or internal meetings.
- Willingness to undergo security clearance for government programmes.
