Are you an experienced, values‑driven leader with a passion for inclusive and specialist practice? We are seeking a Team Manager for Sensory Services, a countywide specialist service supporting children, young people and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, have a visual impairment, or are deafblind / living with dual sensory loss. This pivotal leadership role offers the opportunity to shape high‑quality, person‑centred services, influence system‑wide practice and lead a skilled multidisciplinary workforce committed to improving outcomes across Hertfordshire.
Sensory Services delivers assessment, care coordination and rehabilitation to people of all ages across Hertfordshire who experience sensory loss. Our approach is strengths‑based, outcome‑focused and person‑centred, supporting people to maximise independence, wellbeing and choice in their own homes and communities. The service works closely with Adult Social Care, Children’s Services (0–25), Education, Health and the voluntary and community sector to ensure inclusive and seamless support across the life course.
The position is for Team Manager for Sensory Services (East & North Herts), co‑working with the TM of Sensory Services (South & West Herts). As Team Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Sensory Services, with responsibility for service delivery, performance, quality assurance and workforce development. You will lead and develop a diverse, specialist multidisciplinary team including Vision Rehabilitation Specialists (VRSs), Deafblind Workers, a Social Worker, Senior Community Care Officers and Community Care Officers, while nurturing apprentices across Vision Rehabilitation, Deafblind and Social Work pathways.
Working closely with senior leaders and partners, you will manage competing priorities, lead through change and contribute to the strategic development of sensory services across the county. You will operate within a complex system, balancing operational demands with strategic improvement. The role involves managing resources effectively, responding to financial and service pressures, championing safeguarding and best practice, and supporting innovation to improve access and outcomes for people with sensory needs. This is a chance to play a key role in shaping the future direction of specialist sensory services in Hertfordshire.
