Overview
Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed term locum Consultant Radiologist post, with an interest in Breast Imaging. This post results from a combination of expansion of service, with the installation of new equipment, and the retirement of the lead breast radiologist. The post holder will have the opportunity to apply for an upcoming substantive position.
Organisation and service
Croydon Healthcare NHS Trust (CHS) is a busy DGH and is part of the South West London Network for Breast Services. The CHS Breast Unit (the Bradbeer Unit) is entirely for symptomatic breast imaging. Breast Screening for the network is organised from the Screening Hub at St George’s Hospital. We also work closely with the Royal Marsden Hospital for provision of adjuvant therapies, with all surgery performed at our hospital.
The CHS Breast Unit installed new mammography equipment in April 2022 to introduce the latest breast imaging technologies, including digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) and vacuum assisted biopsies (VAB). In March 2026, two new ultrasounds were deployed as part of the Trust’s equipment replacement programme.
The radiology department is undergoing significant investment in new equipment, with 8 new ultrasound units, a Cone Beam CT dental unit, plain x-ray room and a CT replacement all occurring this year.

The breast imaging post is full-time, with a 5 session commitment in symptomatic breast imaging and the remainder in the main department.
