About the role

Imperial College London is seeking a Deputy Campus Director for the oversight of day-to-day operational performance of campus facilities, ensuring buildings are safe, compliant and ready to support teaching, research and campus activity.

Working as part of the campus leadership team, you will oversee service quality, manage operational risk and coordinate complex activities across multiple teams, contractors and Centre of Expertise, ensuring a high-performing, customer-focused environment across the estate.

You will play a key role in ensuring campus readiness, leading responses to operational challenges and supporting the delivery of major activities, projects and changes across the estate. Acting as a senior point of escalation, you will help maintain continuity of service, drive improvements in performance and contribute to a safe, resilient and well-managed campus environment for staff, students and visitors.

What you would be doing

In this role, you will lead the operational performance of the campus, acting as the main escalation point for complex issues and ensuring effective service delivery across facilities management, maintenance and contractor activity. You will oversee the coordination of planned and reactive works, ensure buildings remain operationally ready, and lead the response to incidents and service recovery where required.

You will work closely with internal teams, external partners and contractors to manage risk, drive compliance and improve service performance. Alongside this, you will use data, reporting and operational insight to inform decision-making, support continuous improvement and ensure effective delivery of campus operations. You will also lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, promoting a strong culture of safety, collaboration and customer focus across the campus.

What we are looking for

  • A degree or relevant professional qualification (or equivalent experience) in architecture, building, engineering, facilities management or a related field
  • Recognised qualification in Facilities Management or a related discipline
  • Have a proven track record of success in senior management and inspirational leadership within estate, facilities, and/or commercial services in a complex multi-site environment
  • Experience of delivering environmentally sustainable solutions at scale in the built environment
  • Demonstrable experience and success in challenging existing operations, changing existing processes/structures, and improving customer experience
  • Experience using data, reporting and performance insight to drive service improvement and inform decision-making
  • A strong understanding of health & safety, compliance and risk management in an operational environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organisational and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex and competing priorities
  • Strong strategic and analytical mindset for complex program development and delivery
  • A commitment to delivering high standards of service and continuous improvement
