Overview
You are the Foundation lead responsible for defining tenant-to-tenant migration standards for SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Teams-associated file content. You will translate information architecture realities (permissions, metadata, sharing, content structures) into repeatable runbooks and quality gates that enable high-volume, low-disruption migrations. You will govern tool configuration standards (native and/or third-party) and establish validation and remediation patterns so Scale squads and the Factory can execute predictably.
Responsibilities
- Define shared data migration strategy and standards for tenant-to-tenant ODSP/Teams files.
- Define discovery and mapping approach (sites, OneDrive, Teams file stores, permissions, metadata, exceptions).
- Produce runbooks for staging, delta moves, cutovers and post‑migration validation; define permissions and sharing parity standards; establish remediation patterns for common issues.
- Define quality gates and acceptance evidence appropriate for enterprise migrations; govern tooling standards (configuration patterns, scheduling approach, reporting outputs).
- Run/lead early pilot content migrations and harden practices based on findings.
- Coordinate dependencies with Identity, Teams and Adoption/change inputs for cutover readiness.
- Establish operational reporting metrics for content moves, exceptions and learning trends.
- Serve as escalation authority for complex content migration scenarios and pattern definition.
- Monitor pilot outcomes and reduce exception rate over time.
- Track rework rate / migration reruns trending down wave‑to‑wave.
- Track evidence completeness rate for migrated scope.
- Track stakeholder acceptance rate and time‑to‑sign‑off per wave.
- Primary UK business hours with expected out‑of‑hours support during cutovers and cross‑region coordination windows (early/late calls; occasional weekends in peak migration periods).
Must‑Have Qualifications
- Delivered tenant-to-tenant SharePoint/OneDrive/Teams files migrations in production (specialism mandatory).
- Strong SharePoint Online and OneDrive operational and permissions expertise.
- Hands‑on experience with enterprise migration tooling in this domain (e.g., ShareGate/Quest or equivalent).
- Proven ability to industrialize migration delivery through runbooks and quality gates; strong validation discipline: understands “fidelity” and can define measurable acceptance checks.
- Willingness to support early/late calls and cutover windows for pilots and wave events.
- Strong documentation and stakeholder translation skills (technical to business impact).
Good‑to‑Have Qualifications
- Experience with complex information architecture/metadata heavy environments.
- Familiarity with Teams content dependency chains and impacts on user experience.
- PowerShell/Graph reporting and automation experience.
- Microsoft certification alignment (MS-102 and/or collaboration admin) or equivalent.
Interpersonal & Consulting Skills
- Sets clear standards and defends them with evidence.
- Strong collaborator across disciplines; anticipates dependency risks.
- Calm and decisive during cutovers; clear communication of risk/impact.
- Coaches engineers through repeatable patterns; improves team capability.
- Strong customer empathy: minimises disruption without compromising integrity.
- High attention to quality and audit evidence.
