The City of York’s Public Health Department is seeking dynamic individuals to join our innovative team, dedicated to enhancing health and reducing inequalities across our community.

As a vital member of our team, the successful candidates will play an essential role in supporting the management and oversight of Public Health service delivery. This includes handling audits, risk management, commissioning projects, information governance, and business continuity plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Technical Systems Development Officer and senior management team to ensure the seamless delivery of Public Health programs.
  • Support budget monitoring, financial management, and grant funding activities on behalf of the Director of Public Health.
  • Support the commissioning process and creation and management of contracts for the commissioning of Public Health services.
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders across statutory, community, and voluntary sectors, developing innovative strategies to engage and inspire partnership involvement.

The ideal candidates will be self-starters with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and use initiative to deliver results. As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public in spoken English to CEFR level B2: describing ability to adjust to changes of direction, style, and emphasis in conversation.
