Westonbrook Associates are working with a well-regarded and growing Kent-based chartered accountancy practice to recruit a Senior Accountant into a key client-facing role.

The firm supports a broad and high-quality client base, from owner-managed businesses through to large groups with turnovers exceeding £30m. The practice is partner-led, commercial in approach and places a strong emphasis on high standards, long-term client relationships and flexible working.

This opportunity would suit an experienced practice accountant looking for senior responsibility, portfolio ownership and clear progression within a stable and forward-thinking firm.

The Role

As Senior Accountant, you will take primary responsibility for a portfolio of larger, more complex clients alongside a smaller number of SMEs. The role is hands‑on and accounts‑focused, covering compliance, reporting and team supervision.

You will work closely with Partners and client internal finance teams, overseeing junior team members and ensuring all deadlines and statutory requirements are met to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of groups and standalone Limited Companies
• Preparing and reviewing monthly and quarterly management accounts, including group consolidations
• Reviewing bookkeeping, reconciliations and VAT returns
• Overseeing statutory accounts preparation, corporation tax and compliance deadlines
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients and external advisers
• Liaising with auditors and supporting audit processes where required
• Reviewing and supporting the development of junior and bookkeeping staffAssisting Partners with ad hoc accounting and compliance-related projects

About You

• ACA or ACCA qualified with at least 5 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice
• Strong background in accounts preparation and management accounts
• Experience working with groups or larger SME clients
• Well‑organised, technically strong and confident dealing with clients
