Fixed Term Nursing Position – School Nursing Service

We have a fixed term vacancy due to maternity leave in the School Nursing Service in Gloucestershire. This post is 3 days, 22.5 hours per week and fixed term until June 2027. The successful candidate will be based in Stroud locality as part of the East School Nursing team and will be expected to work across Cotswolds and Stroud localities.

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to develop the leadership of our innovative and progressive School Nursing Service. You will be a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) aiming to lead and inspire colleagues in the specialist field of public health nursing, working with children and young people to improve their health.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading a skill‑mixed team, developed through robust competency frameworks.
• Providing leadership and support to colleagues, with triage and workload allocation led by the SCCPHN.
• Planning and delivering trauma‑informed care and restorative practice, ensuring shared decision‑making and goal setting with children, young people and families.
• Engaging with children and young people to develop services they want, using place‑based and digital‑first interventions.
• Using social media platforms and ChatHealth to respond to requests from young people and families.
• Working collaboratively with a wide range of partners across health and local authority services.
• Participating in induction, preceptorship and ongoing clinical, safeguarding and restorative supervision.
• Contributing to the culture of inclusivity, diversity and civility within the Trust.
