Veterinary Surgeon – Hospital Practice – West Yorkshire

Part-time role | 30-minute consults | £55K-£65K FTE | Strong clinical support

We’re proud to be working with a large, highly regarded veterinary hospital that is looking to strengthen its veterinary team with an experienced GP Veterinary Surgeon. The practice is seeking a confident vet who enjoys thorough case workups, longer consultations and working within a collaborative clinical team. With a large team of experienced vets, certificate holders and highly qualified nurses, this role offers excellent clinical support and genuine opportunities to develop special interests.

The Role

2 weekdays per week plus 1 in 4 weekends

Weekday consulting shifts:

  • Wednesday: 9:00 – 18:00
  • Thursday: 9:00 – 20:00

Weekend rota:

  • 1 in 4 weekends with shifts such as:
  • 07:30 – 18:00
  • 09:30 – 20:00
  • 10:00 – 20:30

The weekday role is primarily consulting focused, with:

  • 30‑minute sick pet consultations as standard
  • 15‑minute vaccine appointments
  • Structured consulting blocks with time for discussion and breaks

Weekend shifts include ECC work, emergency consults and surgical procedures where required, with the hospital receiving referrals from numerous surrounding practices.

There is very limited sole charge, with multiple vets working per shift alongside a full nursing and management team.

The Practice

This is a large, purpose‑built veterinary hospital including 15 veterinary surgeons and over 20 nurses. The practice combines first‑opinion and hospital‑level care and is recognised within its wider group as a centre for clinical excellence and innovation.

The leadership team is deeply invested in mentorship, learning and staff wellbeing, creating a collaborative and supportive environment where vets are encouraged to develop their interests.

Facilities include:

  • 7 consultation rooms including a feline consult and end‑of‑life suite
  • 4 operating theatres including a high‑end dental suite
  • Digital radiography
  • Advanced ultrasound with Doppler
  • Visiting CT scanner
  • Flexible gastroscope and bronchoscope
  • Video otoscopy and rigid endoscopy
  • Laparoscopy equipment
  • Dental radiography suite
  • Full in‑house laboratory and transfusion medicine
  • Multiparameter monitoring including ECG, capnography and blood pressure

Clinical Interests

The practice is particularly interested in candidates with interests in:

  • Ophthalmology
  • Dermatology
  • Feline medicine

There is scope to develop referral‑style clinics in these areas due to strong referral potential from surrounding practices.
