Role Title

Lead Electrical Engineer - Conventional Low Voltage Systems

We are Rolls‑Royce SMR and we’re doing something that’s never been done before. We’re revolutionising an industry. That’s a once‑in‑a‑career opportunity for those excited by such a challenge. This is more than just a job; this is a legacy.

The Electrical Systems team is responsible for delivering safe, resilient and technically robust electrical infrastructure across the Rolls‑Royce SMR power station. Low‑voltage (LV) systems—including lighting, cabling, earthing and lightning protection—form a critical part of the station’s electrical architecture, supporting both process and non‑process functions. These systems must meet stringent safety, performance and regulatory standards while ensuring consistency and reliability across the plant.

About The Role

As a Lead Electrical Engineer – LV Systems, you will provide technical expertise across the full lifecycle of LV distribution systems for conventional (non‑generator/UPS‑backed) applications. You will lead on system architecture, sub‑system design, equipment specification and component selection to deliver the final verified LV system design for the SMR power station.

You will work closely with engineering teams across the power station to ensure that LV systems are fully integrated, compliant with national and international standards, and developed using a structured systems engineering approach. You will act as a responsible designer and intelligent customer, ensuring technical quality throughout the lifecycle. You will also support strategic planning, risk identification and technical governance while representing the electrical engineering discipline in internal and external forums.
