Overview
My client, a market leading Building Services Consultancy who specialise in sustainable infrastructure and innovative low carbon builds, are searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in London.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join a supportive team based in London to complete sustainable HVAC designs for commercial, healthcare, leisure, residential, and industrial warehouses across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Complete detailed mechanical designs including heating, ventilation, plumbing and air–conditioning using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Complete 2D and 3D models, perform heat load calculations, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and equipment selection using relevant software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, HAP, or Elite).
- Prepare and review mechanical drawings, schematics, simulations and technical specifications in accordance with building codes, sustainability goals, and project requirements.
- Design to BIM level 2 in accordance with British Standards PAS 1192–5.
- Collaborate with electrical, plumbing, and structural engineers to ensure coordinated MEP layouts and avoid design clashes.
- Attend internal and client meetings to resolve design issues/queries and align project objectives.
- Review designs submitted by the team and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Site visits to monitor installation quality, verify compliance with original designs and highlight issues during construction.
- Evaluate new materials and designs ensuring energy efficiency and cost–effectiveness.
Qualifications
- BSc and/or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Experience working for UK-based consultancy completing detailed HVAC designs for ideally commercial and industrial developments using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Experience managing projects, mentoring team members.
- Detailed knowledge of PAS 1192–5 and other relevant codes.
- Keen understanding of BREEAM and net zero.
