We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Sector and contribute to landmark projects across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver electrical engineering projects in line with client expectations.
  • Work in a joint leadership capacity within a MEP discipline team, providing design and technical advice.
  • Review design programmes and ensure sufficient resources are available for completion of works in a timely manner.
  • Take initiative on all technical aspects of the discipline with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret client needs and be responsible for the delivery of the project as a whole.
  • Promote WSP’s capabilities and expertise within the region.
  • Supervise the completion of detailed designs and oversee the work of others.
  • Lead feasibility studies for the project from a discipline perspective.
  • Direct the production of detailed and performance specifications for the discipline, with prior review by colleagues.
  • Develop and line‑manage junior staff.

Electrical Design Skills

  • Low voltage distribution systems
  • Cable calculations via ElectricalOM, Amtech, or by hand
  • Lighting calculations (software and by hand)
  • Energy lighting solutions
  • Small power systems
  • Fire detection and alarm systems
  • Intruder detection and security systems
  • Access control and security systems
  • Disabled call systems
  • Data cabling and outlets
  • Lightning protection

Qualifications

  • BEng/BSc/MEng in an applicable engineering discipline.
  • Membership or pursuit of CIBSE/IET or Engineering Council chartership.
  • RevitMEP training applied to the discipline.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects across a range of scales and sectors.
  • Strong client engagement, coordination and technical discussion skills.
  • Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically to construction professionals and clients.
  • Detailed understanding of regulations applicable to the discipline and ability to demonstrate this through calculation.
  • Working knowledge of the latest electrical design software packages for project allocation and direction.
  • Working understanding of Revit MEP or other 3D design software for project allocation and direction.
  • Must obtain UK Security Check (SC) vetting level.
