Senior Electronics Design Engineer
Greater Manchester (Hybrid – 4 days onsite)
Salary: Up to £50k (DOE) + up to 15% bonus
We are looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to lead a Hardware and Electronics Development team. You will play a key role in the development of next‑generation electronic systems, supporting products from concept through to manufacture. This position combines hands‑on design work with team leadership and cross‑functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electronic hardware including schematic capture and PCB layout
- Deliver product development projects from concept through to production
- Lead day‑to‑day activities of a small engineering team
- Interpret project requirements and communicate deliverables clearly
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including technology, operations, and manufacturing
- Identify and evaluate new technologies for future product development
- Support prototyping, testing, and new product introduction (NPI)
- Produce and manage design documentation, BOMs, and technical reports
- Ensure compliance with quality standards (e.g. ISO9001)
- Provide regular progress updates to senior leadership
About You
- Degree in Electronics Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in electronic hardware design
- Strong experience with schematic capture and PCB design (Altium preferred)
- Experience testing electronic components and assemblies
- Background in Digital, analogue, and microcontroller‑based systems
- Proficient with communication protocols (e.g. LTE, Ethernet, CAN, I2C)
- Understanding of the full product development lifecycleExperience supporting manufacturing and NPI activities
- Comfortable working in a hands‑on technical role
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers
