QA Engineering Manager – Product Development – London office / Hybrid (2 days per week)
Rightmove’s mission is to make moving simpler, offering millions of users a trusted hub to access tools, expertise and insights. We seek a QA Engineering Manager to embed quality into all stages of our product cycle, champion a quality mindset, and lead a growing QA team.
Job Overview
As QA Engineering Manager you will lead and support a group of QAs, strengthen the QA community of practice, and partner with Engineering Managers, Product and Design to improve how we build and ship software. You’ll work with the QA Manager to shape and deliver our QA strategy and roadmap, and help teams build quality in from the start.
Responsibilities
- Coach and support individual QAs on growth, development and day‑to‑day challenges.
- Strengthen learning and knowledge sharing through the QA community of practice.
- Work with the QA Manager to deliver against the QA strategy and roadmap.
- Partner with other Engineering Managers to continuously improve engineering practices.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to shape inclusive, effective ways of working that help teams deliver against objectives.
- Take part in wider Rightmove cultural initiatives.
- Hire great people for long‑term success and create an excellent, inclusive candidate experience.
- Keep up to date with QA practices and experiment with new ideas to improve effectiveness.
What Success Looks Like in This Role (first 6‑12 months)
- Your QA team feels supported, coached and clear on their development, with strong 1:1s and feedback rhythms.
- Quality is considered earlier and more consistently across teams, with fewer late surprises and clearer quality signals.
- The QA community of practice is active and valuable — sharing learning, improving consistency and evolving how QA works at Rightmove.
- You contribute meaningfully to the QA strategy and roadmap, turning ideas into pragmatic experiments and improvements.
- Stakeholders trust you as a calm, collaborative leader who brings people in and improves ways of working.
Qualifications
- People leadership and coaching: experience coaching, developing and supporting people at varying levels; creating an open, trusting environment; actively listening and guiding teams with empathy.
- Quality leadership: genuine passion for QA, experience beyond functional testing (accessibility, security, privacy, resilience); pragmatic, context‑driven approach; focus on delivering value.
- Collaboration, influence and improvement: effective collaborator adaptable to stakeholders; builds support and buy‑in by clear communication; explores new ideas and learns from success/failure; uses tools that genuinely improve QA effectiveness; holds high standards.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
