Our National Innovation & Capital Tax Reliefs Team works with a range of companies, from start‑ups to multinationals, to assist them in the preparation of claims for Research & Development tax relief. We work with companies across all sectors, most notably manufacturing, engineering, life sciences, software and digital technologies to assist them to identify and prepare successful tax relief claims. The variety of projects and impressive client list will challenge you every day, helping you expand your capabilities and grow professionally.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Innovation Reliefs Manager to work in an actively growing, specialist Innovation Reliefs tax team at RSM. This role can be in any of our Southern Region offices, (Southampton, Bristol, Reading, Gatwick or Guildford).

Your Impact

  • Developing claim methodologies and manage the preparation of R&D tax relief claims for submission to HMRC.
  • Leading interviews with clients’ technical and finance teams to advise on the R&D tax relief and to assist with identification of qualifying R&D activities and expenditure.
  • Demonstrating your expertise in writing technical descriptions of the client’s projects to include in the reports.
  • Identifying, leading on, and progressing business development opportunities, pitching for work with both new and existing clients.
  • Ensuring that the R&D engagement team are fully updated on progress and any issues that might affect the client relationship.
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the IR team in the Southern region offices and across the country.

Qualifications

  • In depth knowledge of Innovation Reliefs.
  • Knowledge of different claim methodologies, especially any industry specific challenges, over a broad range of industries with a clear and concise writing style.
  • Strong level of tax technical knowledge of the UK’s R&D tax incentives.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting R&D tax relief claims across sectors.
  • Experience in responding to HMRC enquiries.
