Digital Training Lead

Do you want to make a positive difference in our digital delivery across the Group? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Group Digital Division as Lead Digital Trainer in the Digital Training and Engagement Team.
We have recently developed a Groupwide Digital Service that provides collaboration across University Hospitals of Leicester, Northamptonshire; Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust and Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Working together as a hospital group allows us to deliver benefits above what we could achieve individually and follows our “do once for both” strategy.
Job responsibilities
- Provide efficient, integrated, and user‑focused training to all staff; deliver excellent customer service; ensure services are effective, meet clinical and business needs, and represent best value for money.
- Advise clinical and administrative users on the most effective, safe and efficient use of Clinical Applications and electronic patient records.
- Identify, with stakeholders, any clinical risks associated with Clinical Applications; manage allocation of resources within the team to meet business and/or clinical needs.
- Work with the Test Lead to support the development of testing plans based on complex workflow and system configuration requirements, ensuring systems are fit for purpose and meet clinicians’ needs.
- Provide technical and professional advice regarding Clinical Applications training.
- Ensure training booking systems are up to date and that the team follows standard operating procedures.
- Develop a training prospectus and publicise training courses available.
- Understand the current clinical information systems and processes and adapt knowledge to training replacement and new systems introduced.
- Plan flexible training delivery methods to meet users’ varying needs and time constraints.
- Develop training materials, user manuals and guidance notes for Trust information systems.
- Follow the Clinical Safety Management system; assess all clinical risks in conjunction with the Clinical Safety Officer.
- Plan work to ensure effective training delivery, resolve conflicting timescales and priorities independently, exercising judgement and discretion.
- Act as a mentor to team members, helping them acquire in‑depth knowledge of training theory.
- Troubleshoot technical difficulties that impact on clinical systems.
- Maintain and develop existing skills, and acquire further expertise.
- Train and provide support and guidance to staff on Microsoft Office products.
Qualifications & experience
- Educated to Masters level or equivalent, with experience delivering digital services.
- Recognised training qualification and knowledge of health service provision.
- Demonstrable experience in course development, planning and delivery.
- Leadership of training component of complex clinical systems change/projects; experience of leading a senior training team (preferably in NHS).
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Advanced systems workflow knowledge across a broad range of clinical systems and software; knowledge of digital healthcare standards and NHS datasets and their relationship to coding, finance and commissioning.
- Experience contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
- Change management experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge of clinical risk management policies and processes.
- Excellent understanding of NHS IT systems and services.
- Experience of developing and executing testing plans.
- Agile delivery qualification (e.g., ScrumMaster, AgilePM) or Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2).
- Experience or qualification in SQL / SQL Server, HL7 Interfaces, Reporting tools (e.g., Business Objects) or Windows Server Administration.

- Competence in process analysis and redesign techniques.
- Knowledge of hospital environment and the role of EPR systems in clinical and business operations.
