An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Deputy Head of School in Anaesthetics working across the South West.

The post will be available on the basis of a secondment arrangement from their host institution to NHS England – 1.5 PAs per week (6 hours), worked flexibly. The contract is until the 31 March 2027 in the first instance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Head of School in supporting the Postgraduate Dean in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHS England mandate.
  • Focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future.
  • Collaborate with multi‑professional teams and maintain an acceptable balance of remote and in‑person work, with colleagues with a contractual office base expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in‑person.

Qualifications

  • Experienced clinician with a thorough understanding of education and training across the region.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑professional team.
