The role
Carlisle Support Services is looking for an Operations Manager for Shutdown Maintenance Services who are anti-corrosion and powder coating specialists, operating predominantly in the transport sector delivering services through the process of grit blasting, water jetting, metal spraying and application of coatings.
Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities:
- Work with the Managing Director of Integrated Service and the current GM to develop the business strategy
- Set out actions and timelines to deliver the objectives
- Ensure buy in to the objectives across the business
- Daily management of site works and powder coating works
- Determine labour and skills requirements for contracts and powder coating operations
- Lead off site projects and support resourcing plans
- Ensure all project documentation is prepared and meets all regulatory requirements- Method statements, COSHH assessments, safety data sheets, technical data sheets, Risk assessments and Toolbox talks
- Issue personnel with defined instructions on the work to be carried out and ensure awareness of specific regulations, acts, standards, codes of practice, etc. governing the Company's operations and activities
- Liaise with clients and site personnel on upcoming and ongoing projects, ensuring contract requirements are achievable
- Liaise with other trades, e.g. scaffold companies, subcontracted labour, etc. for support services required for the contract and ensure their risk assessments and method statements meet requirements
- Build strong customer relationships
- Oversee Project scope, surveying and quotation processes
- Support new business acquisition
- Conduct IMR108 Environmental site inspections in advance of site works commencing, ensure supervisors conduct periodical inspections during contracts and protect the environment during all stages of work
- Conduct IMR201 Health and fety site checklists in advance of site works commencing, ensure supervisors conduct periodical checklists during contracts and protect the health and safety of site personnel during all stages of work
- Conduct IMR302 Eyesight check record periodically to ensure driver compliance with FORS standard
- Instruct supervisors to check personnel have been issued with the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) or respiratory protective equipment (RPE) and to check appropriate PPE/RPE being always worn as required for the task, and as determined by the relevant risk assessments
- Ensure business meets all regulatory requirements
- Manage day to day site operations
- Oversee payroll processes
- Ensure all staff are suitably trained with all required training up to date
- Ensure completion of mandatory health checks
- Ensure monthly job chats are completed
- Ensure suitable processes in place to Manage fleet, tools, PPE and equipment
- Develop strong supplier relationships
- Monitor project financial performance
- Support monthly reviews and budget development
The ideal candidate
- At least 3 years' industry experience
- The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the powder coating/anti corrosion market, ideally with a service delivery background.
- Management experience at a mid-to senior level
- Full clean driving licence
- Located within 45 minutes of Rochester Office
Successful candidates will be required to provide original documentation for detailed screening and vetting processes.
This could include the following: passport / driving licence / utility bill dated in the last 3 months / HMRC letter / original bank statement / original payslip / birth certificate / a valid share code.
