Job Description:

Project Manager (ERP) – Cheshire – Permanent (40 hours per week) – £50,000 – £55,000 per annum

As the ERP Systems Project Manager, you will lead the planning, delivery, and successful implementation of ERP solutions, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned to business goals. This role plays a key part in improving operational efficiency, traceability, compliance, and supporting future growth.

Working Patterns: This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days on site per week.

The Key Responsibilities of a Project Manager (ERP):

  • Lead end-to-end ERP implementation, upgrade, and enhancement projects from initiation through to go-live and post-launch support.
  • Create and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, resources, and delivery milestones.
  • Monitor risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests, ensuring effective mitigation and escalation where required.
  • Deliver projects in line with agreed scope, quality standards, and business objectives.
  • Coordinate internal teams and third-party vendors, including ERP suppliers, consultants, and system integrators.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all ERP-related project activity.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders, department heads, and end users to gather requirements and manage expectations.
  • Facilitate workshops to define business processes, functional needs, and system design.
  • Provide regular project updates, reports, and dashboards to senior leadership.
  • Translate operational requirements into ERP solutions across manufacturing, supply chain, inventory, procurement, finance, and quality functions.
  • Support process mapping and continuous improvement initiatives aligned to ERP best practice.
  • Ensure systems support traceability, batch control, lot tracking, and shelf-life management.
  • Ensure ERP systems align with food industry regulations and standards including BRCGS, SALSA, HACCP, and retailer requirements.
  • Partner with Quality, Technical, and Compliance teams to maintain accurate reporting and data integrity.
  • Support audit readiness and regulatory compliance across business processes.
  • Oversee testing phases including unit testing, integration testing, UAT, and defect resolution.
  • Coordinate user training, documentation, and change management activities.
  • Lead go-live planning, cutover, and hypercare support to ensure successful deployment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, user adoption, and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews and capture lessons learned.
  • Support future ERP enhancements and wider digital transformation programmes.

Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Project Manager (ERP), however you will not be expected to have everything:

  • Proven experience delivering ERP implementation, upgrade, or transformation projects, ideally within food manufacturing or FMCG environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP platforms such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, Oracle, Sage, or similar systems.
  • Experience managing projects using recognised methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the business.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors, suppliers, and system integrators.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chains, and regulated industry environments.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Previous experience working within a regulated food manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and system integration projects.
  • Relevant project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, or AgilePM.
  • Experience delivering change management initiatives, training, and driving user adoption.
