Are you a microbiology-focused QC professional with experience in a cGMP environment—or a recent graduate with hands-on microbiology lab experience?

SRG have a fantastic opportunity to join a successful and expanding organisation in the Central Belt of Scotland, supporting GMP microbiology and quality control activities within the Quality department.

The Role:

  • Support and maintain QC microbiology quality systems and documentation (SOPs, forms, logbooks) in line with cGMP
  • Perform and/or review microbiology testing and data, including Environmental Monitoring (viable/non-viable), bioburden and endotoxin testing
  • Support microbiology aspects of stability studies (sample coordination, testing plans, trending and reporting)
  • Approve and release incoming raw materials/consumables where microbiological controls apply
  • Manage QC investigations and CAPAs related to microbiology results (OOS/OOT, EM excursions, contamination events)
  • Support method technical transfer/verification/validation for microbiological methods (e.g., bioburden, endotoxin, EM)
  • Carry out routine lab activities such as media preparation, growth promotion, sample preparation, incubation, colony counting and basic microbial identification
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and oversight of subcontract/contract testing facilities (as required), including document review and quality agreements
  • Trend and interpret microbiology/QC data to identify shifts, recurring issues and improvement opportunities
  • Ensure all QC microbiology processes are compliant with cGMP guidance and site procedures, maintaining data integrity at all times

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to document and present microbiology/QC findings clearly
  • Able to work well as part of a team in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment
  • High attention to detail and a right-first-time approach to documentation and data integrity
  • Good time management and planning skills, able to prioritise routine testing alongside investigations

Requirements:

  • Open to experienced QC Microbiology Analysts (industry) or graduates with hands-on microbiology laboratory experience (placement, internship, university lab or similar)
  • Experience with one or more of the following is beneficial: Environmental Monitoring, bioburden, endotoxin testing, media preparation and basic microbial identification
  • Exposure to GMP/GLP or other regulated environments is advantageous (training provided where needed)
  • Experience of supporting a QMS and assisting with deviations/investigations/CAPA is desirable
