Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Chest, Head & Neck Imaging

The closing date is 19 May 2026

This post is for a substantive Consultant Radiologist with a sub‑specialty interest in Chest and Head and Neck Imaging. This is a whole‑time post offering an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated Doctor to join a dynamic team of 19 Consultant Radiologists delivering multidisciplinary acute care in North Cheshire and Mersey Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful applicant will be required to participate in the general/cross‑sectional reporting in the departments at Warrington and Halton Hospitals. There will be an on‑call commitment (current rota is 1:17). The Consultants are second on‑call. The initial contact for on‑call imaging is provided by a central on‑call Hub staffed by regional STs supported by an integrated RIS (Wellbeing) and PACS - Carestream Global Worklist. This service is provided on weekdays from 5pm to 9am and during weekends. The on‑call Radiologist is on site on Saturdays from 9am‑4pm and on Sundays from 9am to 1pm. There will be additional opportunity to lead or represent the chest and head & neck services with a view to us expanding and developing the service at Warrington.

Applicants will be required to achieve CCT within six months of interview. They will be required to hold Membership of the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) (UK or equivalent qualifications) and to be fully registered with the General Medical Council.

Job responsibilities

The postholder will be expected to work closely with the team of existing Radiologists to support the continuing development of imaging within Warrington and Halton Hospitals as a whole. The successful applicant will be required to be proficient in all aspects of diagnostic Radiology including reporting of Plain Film, Ultrasound, CT and MRI, as well as interventional skills in Ultrasound guided intervention. Support for General Radiology is required to support the on‑call and acute work. The postholder will be part of a team of nineteen Radiologists. The Trust benefits from enthusiastic Chest and Head and Neck teams with whom the Radiology department enjoys excellent working relationships. The postholder will be expected to take part in the general on‑call rota (1:17) to cover the Warrington Acute site and assist with the provision of weekend radiological support for the Imaging service. There is scope for supporting development of the other imaging services/pathways as well as performing various non‑vascular intervention procedures including Ultrasound or CT guided biopsies and drainages.
