Solution Architect
6 Month contract initially
Based: Hybrid, up to 3 days p/w onsite in Manchester
Rate - £450 - £550 p/d via Umbrella
Key Responsibilities
- Develop end to end architecture covering applications, data, integration, security, and infrastructure.
- Create high-level and detailed solution designs, architecture diagrams, data flows, and interface specifications.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with enterprise standards.
- Evaluate technology options and recommend optimal architectural choices.
- Work closely with business leaders, product owners, delivery managers, and engineering teams to understand requirements.
- Present architecture proposals and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Perform architecture reviews, solution assurance, and risk assessments.
- Guide development teams on implementation best practices and architectural patterns.
Key Skills & Experience
- Deep understanding and expertise of legacy technologies and/or platforms including mainframes.
- 6+ years of relevant work experience in solution architecture, with deep understanding of cloud hosting concepts and implementations.
- Experience in converting legacy applications to containerized microservice design applications.
- Deep understanding of domain driven design and data mesh principles.
- Hands-on experience on design, build and deployment of applications based on .Net MVC, Java, Angular, React, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and event-based architecture.
- Conceptual clarity around front-end development.
- Hands on experience in implementing API, Micro-services and application security.
- Strong in architecture design patterns, experience with secure interoperability standards and methods, architecture tools and process.
- Hands-on experience setting up DevOps principles and practices, including continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), automated testing & deployment pipelines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills - has good skills in working with business stakeholders.
- Knowledge in Pension/Annuity, preferably in UK Workplace pension.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Sound knowledge of agile principles, and practices.
