Principal Thermal Engineer

12 month contract

Based in Stevenage

Offering £50ph Inside IR35

Do you have experience carrying out thermal analysis of electronics? Do you have experience with MATLAB/Simulink? Do you want to work with an industry-leading company? If your answer to these is yes, then this could be the role for you!

As the Principal Thermal Engineer, you will be working alongside a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. They are always looking to bring on new talents such as yourself and further develop your skills to enable you to grow within the company and industry.

Due to the nature of what you will be working on, you will be required to obtain high level MOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of delivering packages of thermal analysis work
  • Provide mechanical analysis support to develop designs and deliver thermal performance evidence
  • Deliver analysis evidence in clear reports with firm conclusion statements
  • Participate in team meetings and design reviews
  • Manage workload against time schedules and report progress regularly to stakeholders
  • Responsible for dealing and collaborating with project stakeholders (internal & external)

Skillset

  • Proven ability to carry out thermal analysis through the application of hand calculations and Finite Element methods (e.g. ANSYS)
  • Experience carrying out studies to determine the effects of conduction, convection, and radiation on the thermal response of systems
  • Thermal analysis of electronics
  • Application of MATLAB-Simulink to deliver thermal studies
  • Use of CFD to assess thermal behaviour
  • Scripting using MATLAB or Python
