Position Summary
The Sr. Support Engineer, SAP HR/Payroll is responsible for providing exceptional remote-based support for mission-critical SAP HR/Payroll applications as part of our global customer support team. The role includes researching and troubleshooting issues, providing advice and solutions, configuring, testing, and delivering fixes in complex, integrated environments. It requires functional experience, integration knowledge, implementation and support expertise, and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues. Knowledge of UK payroll, legal reporting, and country-specific infotypes is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Solve customer issues using methodical troubleshooting based on expert knowledge of SAP HR/Payroll functionality and technology in complex ERP environments.
- Work closely with customers as issues arise to understand their needs, support business change and deliver a consistently high-quality customer experience.
- Provide remote-based support for all aspects of the functional and technical features of SAP HR/Payroll including SAP Payroll and Time Management configuration, UK and Ireland payroll statutory regulations, PCR and schema, payroll/finance integration, absence processing and UK Local Government issues. Support country-specific HR/Payroll configuration for other European or Middle East countries as needed.
- Support client customisations, sharing implementation and best practices advice.
- Develop application break fixes for critical product defects.
- Help clients analyse and correct data issues.
- Manage one or more key assigned accounts as a technical/functional advisor.
- Provide hands‑on assistance using proprietary tools in a test environment or via remote client connectivity.
- Be a pro‑active contributor to a support organisation.
- Collaborate with team members in a virtual team environment to extend field experience to different client situations.
- Contribute to the development and management of knowledge‑sharing methodologies, diagnostic tools, and creative processes to improve the client experience.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Membership of CIPP or equivalent is also desirable.
Experience
- 10+ years’ relevant SAP experience, particularly with all aspects of UK and Ireland SAP HR/Payroll, Personal Administration, Time Management, Organisation Management. Local government payroll experience is also required.
- At least 5 years “hands‑on” implementation experience in the UK with at least two full life‑cycle implementations.
- 5+ years direct support of application end‑users in a corporate environment.
- Extensive and in‑depth knowledge of all aspects of SAP Payroll and Time Management configuration, UK and Ireland payroll statutory regulations, PCR and schema, payroll/finance integration, absence processing.
- Ability to support UK Local Government issues including Multiple Employment, LGPS and Teachers Pension, RTI and EOY skills would also be highly desirable.
- Country‑specific HR/Payroll knowledge of other European or Middle East countries is desirable.
- Good working knowledge of ESS/MSS, HR Forms including payslips, and Travel Management is desirable.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in another European language is preferred but not required.
- Track record of successful roles in several SAP implementation or upgrade projects.
- Deep working knowledge and understanding of supporting business processes.
- Analytical, logical problem resolution skills.
- SAP certification(s) preferred.
- Knowledge of localisations: architecture, implementation and key functionality.
- Expertise with SAP 4.x and ECC, including full life‑cycle implementation experience, configuration and administration of the application.
- Demonstrable history solving complex problems across multiple modules.
