Job Responsibilities
The BI Analyst will champion the MI Data Warehouse and Reporting tools across QBE EO. Responsibilities include:
- Partner with project teams and stakeholders to capture reporting and data‑consumption requirements and translate them into reporting solutions.
- Align BI deliverables with the organisation’s Data Strategy, applying agreed standards and promoting best practice across the business.
- Design and maintain the reporting/semantic (presentation) layer, ensuring it meets business needs and supports consistent definitions and metrics.
- Build, test, and release dashboards and reports, including documentation and handover to support ongoing use.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to set expectations, communicate progress, and ensure BI services meet business needs.
- Apply and help improve BI delivery standards (e.g., development lifecycle, validation, peer review), driving continuous improvement.
- Facilitate the identification, documentation, and prioritisation of the QBE business unit’s MI reporting requirements, highlighting gaps and additional opportunities where appropriate.
- Deliver complex or bespoke reporting solutions and lead rollout activities (training, communications, change support) to maximise adoption and correct usage.
- Work with third‑party suppliers as required to support analysis, clarify requirements, and coordinate delivery to agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Protect data integrity and quality by following governance, access controls, and validation processes, ensuring changes do not adversely impact the data warehouse or reporting layer.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in designing full solutions, producing specifications detailing solutions for approval by users and for technical use by developers and testers.
- Experience working with business representatives to identify and document business requirements.
- Hands‑on experience querying data via SQL, data warehousing concepts, building ETLs or ETL concepts and working with large volumes of data. Experience with Databricks highly beneficial.
- Extensive experience designing and building MI using BI tools such as Power BI including data modelling and writing DAX.
- Experience working with Data Governance processes in an reporting and analytics context.
- Experience using structured analytical techniques.
- Experience of Agile delivery, particularly Scrum.
- Power Platform tools such as Power App & Power Automate beneficial.
- Previous experience in financial services, particularly Lloyd’s market insurance, beneficial.
- Any experience with AI for reporting and analytics beneficial.
