Senior Technical Architect

£550/day (Inside IR35) | Leeds (1x per month, 2 days onsite) | BPSS Required | ASAP Start

Experience of working for a UK government organisation is essential

A leading public sector organisation is seeking a Technical Architect with a strong development background to support the delivery of modern, cloud-based digital services.

You will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, working closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to design scalable, high-quality solutions aligned to established standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across design and delivery phases
• Produce high-quality architecture documentation (e.g. sequence diagrams, API specifications)
• Design and architect microservices-based solutions
• Collaborate with wider architecture teams to ensure alignment with standards and best practices
• Support the definition of non-functional requirements (e.g. scalability, performance, security)
• Contribute to engineering communities and continuous improvement initiatives

Key Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technical Architect with a development background
• Strong experience with Scala and microservices architecture (ideally Play Framework)
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Strong understanding of API design and system integration
• Ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Must have prior experience working within a UK government department or public sector organisation

Additional Information

• BPSS clearance required (or eligible)
• Initial 3-month contract starting ASAP
• Travel to Leeds once per month (2 days, back-to-back)
