The Role

We’re looking for a Front End Developer to cover maternity leave – with a good chance of it becoming permanent for the right person. We’re open on the shape of the role too; full‑time, part‑time, or something in between. If the fit is right, we’ll make it work.

You’ll be mainly working on our in‑house developed document management applications. Just good code, good people, and the freedom to do your best work.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and maintaining responsive front‑end interfaces, mainly using React
• Own features end‑to‑end – from initial idea and UX discussion through implementation, testing, release, and iteration
• Contributing ideas – we actually listen, so don’t be shy
• Own the front‑end release process and ensure smooth, confident deployments
• Monitor production behaviour and proactively improve the user experience based on real data
• Keeping up with emerging tech and bringing fresh ideas to the table
• There is also opportunity to get involved with our cloud infrastructure (AWS experience is a bonus)

What We’re Looking For

• Solid hands‑on experience with JavaScript – we work with React, so existing experience there would be an advantage
• A genuine love of learning – we want someone who tinkers, experiments, and stays current
• Detailed eye for UI/UX – you notice when something’s slightly off
• Strong HTML fundamentals and a great grasp of CSS
• Familiarity with version control (Git – it’s non‑negotiable)
• Good communication skills – async, sync, whatever – just keep people in the loop
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of your work
• Daily commute to our Manchester office

Nice to Have (But No Pressure)

• AWS experience – even just a working knowledge goes a long way
• We work with React, Tanstack Query and React Router, so existing experience with those libraries would be helpful (but not required!)
• Any experience with Docker would be an advantage
• Experience with REST APIs and integrating third‑party services
• Any open‑source contributions or personal projects you’re proud of

A Note on Self‑Learning

This one’s important to us. The tech world moves fast and we’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys keeping up with it. Whether that’s side projects, online courses, contributing to open source, following dev blogs, or just messing around with new frameworks on a weekend – we want to see that curiosity. The Package

Salary – £27k – £30k

Hours – 37.5
