Applications Design Engineer

The Company: A well-established engineering business is looking to recruit an Applications Design Engineer to join their team. This is a key position supporting both technical and commercial activities, with a strong focus on customer interaction and engineering design.

Key Responsibilities

• Support customers with technical queries, RFQs, and application requirements
• Produce and maintain accurate engineering drawings and documentation
• Work closely with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery
• Prepare quotations in line with company margins and support contract reviews
• Act as a key technical point of contact for customers, providing guidance and problem‑solving support
• Manage communication around pricing, lead times, and technical specifications
• Lead the implementation of DriveWorks within the business
• Take ownership of the system, including configuration, rules, and workflows
• Develop automation for drawings, BOMs, models, and quotations
• Work cross‑functionally to define inputs, constraints, and outputs
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and increased automation
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and Health & Safety standards
• Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering and production processes

The Candidate

• Mechanical Engineering background preferred
• Experience working with engineering drawings and design processes
• Strong technical and commercial awareness
• Understanding of manufacturing or precision engineering environments
• Confident communicator with customer‑facing experience
• Proactive, organised, and able to manage workload effectively
• Interest or experience in design automation

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
