About the Role
Raigmore Hospital’s Acute Adult Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)/Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) Service is recruiting experienced ANPs/ACPs to support the deteriorating patient pathway across Raigmore Hospital. The team plays a key role in providing leadership, education, quality improvement and audit opportunities, and may also act as core members of the cardiac arrest team and first point of contact for the Medical Emergency Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the deteriorating patient pathway across the hospital, including leadership and education roles.
- Implement and audit quality improvement initiatives aligned with the four pillars of advanced practice.
- Act as the first point of contact for the Medical Emergency Team and serve as a core member of the cardiac arrest team.
- Work within a 5‑ or 7‑day rota, including weekends and nights, depending on the area of practice.

- Acute Medicine (rotational between Same Day Emergency Care and Medical Assessment Unit)
- Hospital at Night
- Gastroenterology
- Medicine for the Elderly
Qualifications for Qualified ANP/ACP Applicants
- Completed an NHS Highland‑approved Advanced Clinical Assessment and History Taking module at degree level.
- Registered with the NMC as a Non‑Medical Prescriber (V300).
- Substantial experience working at an advanced practice level in acute inpatient settings.
- Evidence of Final sign‑off in line with national advanced practice standards (if qualified in recent years).
Qualifications for Trainee ANP/ACP Applicants
- Successful completion of the NHS Highland Advanced Practice Competency Framework/Portfolio.
- Final sign‑off in line with national advanced practice standards.
- Training leading to a Postgraduate Diploma through the University of the Highlands & Islands, covering clinical reasoning, advanced clinical examination, quality improvement and non‑medical prescribing.
