Advanced Clinical Pharmacist – OPAT

We have an exciting development opportunity for a Band 8a Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to work in the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) team at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (part of the Humber Health Partnership). This may be offered as a Band 7-8a progression role depending on experience.
As part of your role you will undertake a structured process to achieve Advanced Clinical Pharmacist status and, upon successful completion, demonstrate high quality acute clinical pharmacy skills, together with leading a team.
The postholder will work flexibly across three hospital sites within the Trust: Grimsby, Scunthorpe, and occasionally Goole & District Hospital. The role includes weekend and bank holiday working.
The base site will be Scunthorpe General Hospital, with travel expenses for inter‑site travel. Driving is essential due to limited public transport links.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide advanced clinical pharmacist service within the antimicrobial stewardship team, managing and supervising Pharmacists, Trainee Pharmacists, and ward support technicians. Responsibilities include supporting the Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist, pharmacy aspects of the OPAT service, and integration of pharmacists into clinical specialties for medicines optimisation.
Person Specification
Professional Qualifications
- Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy qualification or proven level of equivalent experience
- GPhC registered as a practising pharmacist
- Independent Prescriber or willing to become one within 12 months of appointment
- Further qualification in the field
Clinical experience
- Experience in hospital / clinical pharmacy
- Evidence of ongoing personal CPD
- Experience in a variety of specialties
- Experience of providing education and training to pharmacy staff or other healthcare professionals
Skills and Knowledge
- Evidence of ability to monitor compliance with procedures and protocols
- Experience of autonomous clinical working
- Able to work well as a team member as well as alone
- Experience of electronic prescribing

£57,528 to £64,750 per annum pro rata
