Southfield has a new female ward opening and provides specialist care and treatment for people with serious mental illness in a secure environment who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Service users are aged between 18 and 65 years old and may have either committed a criminal offence or have challenging behaviour. The unit includes one male ward and one female ward split into two halves. The main purpose of the unit is to help service users understand and manage their mental health so that they can, where possible, be reintegrated back into the community.
We welcome applications from registered mental health or learning disability nurses and from students or newly qualified nurses. All will be supported to develop clinical skills and invited to take part in the Trust’s Preceptorship Programme, which provides the practical skills required for this role. Our LEAD team offers unparalleled training and development opportunities and CPD; all staff are encouraged to access these.
To contribute where required to the provision of a 24‑hour, seven‑day a‑week in‑patient based service across an acute care pathway.
Under the supervision of the Clinical Ward Manager and Charge Nurses, you will work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines. You will be responsible for assessing care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care. You will develop and evaluate care plans in conjunction with service users, carers and other professionals to ensure individual needs are met. You will carry out all relevant forms of care and may be designated to take charge of a ward in the absence of a charge nurse.

Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 a year (pro‑rate for part‑time hours)
