World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Verification and Validation Systems Engineering Specialist subcontractor on an initial 12 month contract.
Rate: £85.00 per hour. Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’. Location: Stevenage or Bristol (depending on your preference). Hybrid/Remote working: The role will be a hybrid role of approximately 2 days per week onsite. Contract: 37 hours per week, Duration: 12 months (initially, with potential for ongoing and long-term thereafter). IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella).
Key Responsibilities
- Test Strategy & Development: Define test requirements, create test plans, scope front-end activities with the customer to ensure requirements are met efficiently.
- System Validation: Oversee or support the qualification and acceptance of test equipment, ensuring it is robust, compliant, and accurate.
- Analysis & Troubleshooting: Analyse test data, identify performance bottlenecks, and troubleshoot validation issues.
- Documentation & Governance: Produce technical documentation (test procedures, reports) and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Support departmental strategy and assist in recruitment of personnel into the team.
- Influence senior stakeholders on technical direction and provide technical leadership for all test-related issues across design projects.
- Support new product bid activities and identify, document, and deploy best practice across the department and projects.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electronics or mechanical systems, degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
- Hands-on Experience: Expertise operating general-purpose test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators).
- Industry Standards: Knowledge of safety-critical standards, especially within aerospace, defence (MOD), or rail sectors.
- Communication: Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and liaise with customers for system acceptance.
- Experience with DOORS & DOORS NG, SysML & Rhapsody desirable, training provided where needed.
- Experience in DfT and testability.
- RF / Microwave systems knowledge desirable.
