Overview

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Manchester. This role involves the design, development, and commissioning of control systems across a range of industrial automation projects. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, innovative solutions to clients across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop control systems using Siemens TIA Portal
  • PLC and HMI programming, testing, and debugging
  • Produce electrical schematics using EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Support system integration, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site commissioning
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, and software teams
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation and operation
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations
  • Provide technical documentation and support to clients

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Controls Engineer or similar role
  • Strong proficiency with Siemens TIA Portal (PLC/HMI programming)
  • Experience with electrical design software (EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical)
  • Good understanding of industrial automation systems and processes
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience with machine vision systems
  • Knowledge of robotics (programming, integration, or commissioning)
  • Experience working in manufacturing, logistics, or process industries
  • Familiarity with industrial networks and communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, Ethernet/IP)
