Role: Housing & Disrepair Locum Solicitor
Location: Sheffield (Hybrid Working Available)
Rate: £55 - £60 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 3-6 Months (Immediate Start Available)
The Opportunity
CRA Consulting is proud to be working in partnership with Sheffield City Council to recruit an experienced Housing & Disrepair Locum Solicitor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-regarded Local Authority legal team, supporting a busy and high-performing department handling a varied caseload of housing litigation matters. You will play a key role in advising internal departments and representing the Council in proceedings, particularly in relation to housing disrepair claims.
What you'll be doing
- Managing a caseload of housing disrepair matters on behalf of the Council
- Handling pre-action protocol claims and litigated disrepair cases
- Advising on housing law, landlord and tenant issues, and regulatory obligations
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and legal correspondence
- Representing the Council in court hearings where required
- Providing clear, pragmatic advice to internal stakeholders
What they're looking for
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with full practising rights
- Proven experience handling housing disrepair matters
- Previous Local Authority experience is highly desirable
- Strong advocacy skills and confidence attending hearings
- Ability to manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision
- A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
