Teacher (PMLD) – Maternity Cover | Specialist Provision (Gateshead)

Location: GatesheadStart: SeptemberHours: Monday‑Thursday (Full Days)Rate: £130‑£200 per day (DOE)

We are working with a specialist provision in Gateshead seeking a PMLD Teacher for a maternity cover position starting in September. This is a small, highly focused class setting where teaching is tailored entirely around the needs of each learner.

You will be responsible for a group of three pupils aged approximately 5‑15, all with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The role is ideal for a teacher who values creativity, adaptability, and highly personalised approaches to learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver highly individualised, sensory‑based learning
• Adapt teaching to meet complex and profound learning needs
• Lead and support a small team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)
• Work closely with therapists and external professionals
• Support pupils in achieving EHCP targets and developmental milestones
• Create a safe, calm, structured, and engaging learning environment

Working Pattern

• Monday to Thursday
• Full‑day teaching commitment
• Maternity cover starting September

Qualifications

• Experience working with PMLD or pupils with complex needs
• Confidence leading a small team within the classroom
• A calm, patient, and highly adaptable teaching style
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Experience working with multi‑agency professionals
• QTS/QTLS
