Introduction
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations and the leading UN agency in the field of migration. It works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non‑governmental partners to promote humane and orderly migration and to provide services and advice to governments and migrants.
Organizational Context and Scope
IOM UK delivers programmes that support migrants in the UK and internationally, including migration and development, protection, diaspora engagement, remittances, and immigration advice. The Project Manager reports to the Head of Unit and oversees projects within the Migration and Development unit.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate overall project implementation, overseeing financial, administrative and technical aspects in line with IOM policies and donor requirements.
- Provide operational guidance and supervision to project staff, assist with programmatic strategy and implementation, and recommend appropriate actions.
- Monitor progress against strategic objectives and benchmarks, advise on improvements, and coordinate the establishment of a common monitoring and evaluation framework.
- Identify priority areas for project development and lead the creation of new projects.
- Supervise staff and consultants, plan and deliver capacity‑building activities.
- Support monitoring and compliance with project partners and liaise with government entities, UN agencies and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with other units for the smooth implementation of all activities.
- Ensure effective information management and communication of project activities, including regular updates and other materials.
- Draft financial, narrative and other progress reports, ensuring timely submission and compliance with donor and IOM requirements.
- Participate in conferences, workgroups, steering committees and other forums, contributing to the mainstreaming of migration issues.
- Undertake duty travel as required to support coordination and monitoring activities.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, Economic Development, Business, Public Administration, International Studies or a related field, plus five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Programme conceptualisation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
- Project management and development.
- Financial management and administration.
- Liaising with governmental and local authorities and national/international institutions.
- Managing consortia and working with implementing partners.
- Understanding of migration issues in the country and region.
- Organising consultations, workshops and seminars with stakeholders.
- In‑depth knowledge of migration subject areas.
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
- Experience with FCDO and/or EU funding (advantage).
