M&E Assistant Quantity SurveyornLondon | Full-time | Site-basednnIf you are an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is ready to operate at Project QS level, this is your opportunity to step into that responsibility.nnYou are capable of more than assisting someone else’s spreadsheets. You understand subcontractor packages, variations, payment applications and cost reporting. You can manage your own workstreams and hold commercial control without needing constant direction.nnHere you will be trusted with real responsibility on major infrastructure upgrades across London.
You will manage defined mechanical and electrical packages while working alongside senior commercial leadership on technically complex projects.nnThe work sits within live operational environments including commercial buildings and mission-critical infrastructure. That means disciplined commercial management, clear communication with project teams and strong control of subcontractor packages.nnThese projects require commercial professionals who understand the reality of building services installation, not just the numbers behind it.nnYou will play a key role in maintaining commercial control across projects that upgrade the mechanical and electrical infrastructure powering some of London’s most important buildings.nnWhat you’ll donnManage defined M&E subcontractor packages from procurement through to final account, ensuring commercial control is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.nnReview and assess subcontractor payment applications against progress on site, ensuring valuations reflect actual delivery and contractual milestones.nnManage variation processes across mechanical and electrical infrastructure works, ensuring changes are properly recorded, valued and agreed.nnSupport cost reporting and forecasting, maintaining clear visibility of project performance and commercial risk.nnWork closely with project delivery teams to understand installation progress, identify commercial impacts early and maintain accurate cost tracking.nnMaintain structured commercial documentation including subcontract records, change registers, payment assessments and project reporting.nnWhat you’ll neednn * 4–8 years’ experience within a Quantity Surveying or commercial role on building services or M&E construction projectsnn * Experience managing subcontractor packages within mechanical and electrical project environmentsnn * Strong understanding of building services installations such as HVAC plant, pipework systems and electrical infrastructurenn * Confidence working independently on project commercial responsibilitiesnn * Strong commercial awareness and disciplined reporting capabilitynn * Relevant construction or quantity surveying qualification beneficial but not essentialnnPackagenn * Salary £60,000 – £70,000 depending on experiencenn * Car allowance typically £5,000 – £6,000nn * Discretionary annual bonus linked to company and individual performancenn * Private medical insurance following probationnn * Company pension scheme with employer contributions above statutory minimumnn * Life assurance typically 3–4x salarynn * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysnn * Laptop, phone and standard site equipment providednn * Ongoing training and development with progression toward Senior Quantity Surveyor roles
