SQL Commercial Analyst

We’re working with a fast-growing organisation looking for a SQL Commercial Analyst to sit between data engineering and commercial analysis. You’ll own the SQL data environment and turn raw data into insight that drives decision-making across finance, operations, and leadership. This is a high-ownership role with exposure across the business and real impact on how data is used.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build and maintain a scalable SQL data warehouse
- Develop and manage data pipelines ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Analyse key commercial drivers including revenue, pricing, volume, and margin
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable business insight
- Build forecasting models based on historical data
- Produce Excel outputs including:
- Variance analysis
- Performance bridges
- Commercial summaries
- Partner with stakeholders to translate business questions into structured analysis
- Support integration of new data sources as the business scales
What We’re Looking For
- Strong SQL skills (complex queries, joins, aggregations, large datasets)
- Experience with data warehouses and data modelling
- Advanced Excel skills (financial modelling and reporting)
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to link data to business performance
- Self-sufficient and comfortable working independently
Desirable Experience
- Fast-growth or multi-entity environments
- Power BI or similar BI tools
- ERP/CRM systems
