Senior Financial Crime (Sanctions) Contractor
London (Hybrid) | 4–6 Months | Day Rate £500-£600/day (Inside IR35)
We are supporting a well-established London Market insurance broker in sourcing an experienced Financial Crime / Sanctions specialist to join their compliance function on an interim basis.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role requiring someone who can operate with minimal supervision and provide real-time guidance to the business on complex financial crime matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert across sanctions compliance, supporting the business with advisory queries
- Conduct sanctions screening, investigations, and escalation of complex cases
- Provide guidance on high-risk jurisdictions, counterparties, and transactions
- Support the ongoing development and enhancement of the financial crime framework and controls
- Work closely with stakeholders across underwriting, broking, and wider compliance
- Assist with regulatory requirements and internal policy adherence
Requirements
- Proven experience within Financial Crime / Sanctions in the insurance sector
- Strong knowledge of UK, EU, and US sanctions regimes (including OFSI)
- Experience handling complex investigations and advisory work
- Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment
- Prior exposure to the Lloyd’s / London Market is highly desirable

- London-based, hybrid working (typically 2–3 days in the office)
- Initial 4–6 month contract
