Pastoral Support Assistant - KS2 SEN Alternative Provision (New Forest)
A nurturing KS2 alternative provision in the New Forest is seeking a Pastoral Support Assistant to provide consistent, relational and highly personalised 1:1 support to pupils with a range of SEN and SEMH needs. The provision delivers a broad, balanced and diverse curriculum through a therapeutic, sensory, practical and outdoor-based approach, tailored to each child's individual development and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver calm, relational and 1:1 pastoral support to KS2 pupils with diverse SEN/SEMH needs
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, anxiety, sensory needs, transitions and social communication
- Engage children through therapeutic, sensory, practical and outdoor learning activities
- Promote emotional wellbeing, safety and positive behaviour using nurturing, trauma-informed approaches
- Help pupils build communication, self-regulation, social skills, independence and confidence
- Build trusting relationships through patience, empathy and clear communication
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to provide holistic support
- Contribute to a safe, structured and emotionally supportive learning environment

- Start Date: September 2026 or ASAP
- Contract Type: Full-time
- Working Hours: 08:30 - 16:30 Monday - Friday
- Pay Rate: From £14.25 per hour
Requirements
- Right to Work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- References covering the last 24 months
- Level 2/3 qualification in childcare/education/health & social care or relevant SEN/SEMH experience
