Job Description
This is a remote position.
40 weeks contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary
- We are seeking a part-time Project Officer to join the Jigsaw team of regional coordinators within Environmental Health.
- This temporary, remote role will support local authorities in preparing for the implementation of the Renters’ Rights Act.
- The position is ideally suited to candidates with a Tenancy Relations Officer background or significant Housing Enforcement experience within a local authority setting.
- The role is funded until 31 March 2027 and requires an average commitment of 2 days per week.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample)
- Support the coordination and delivery of the Regulator’s Pioneer Fund project across regional teams
- Provide expert advice on housing enforcement and tenancy relations matters
- Assist local authorities in preparing for regulatory changes linked to the Renters’ Rights Act
- Apply and interpret relevant legislation and enforcement procedures, including PACE, RIPA and CPIA
- Contribute to the development of best practice guidance and operational processes
- Liaise with stakeholders across Environmental Health and Trading Standards teams
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with compliance requirements
- Participate in virtual meetings, workshops, and project updates
Skills/Experience
- Proven experience as a Tenancy Relations Officer or in Housing Enforcement
- Strong understanding of housing legislation and local authority regulatory frameworks
- Working knowledge of PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act), RIPA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act), and CPIA (Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act)
- Experience working within Environmental Health or Trading Standards
- Ability to interpret and apply complex legislation in practical settings
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent organisational and report-writing abilities
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Experience supporting projects, programmes, or policy implementation
