This is a remote position.

40 weeks contract role with a Local Authority

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a part-time Project Officer to join the Jigsaw team of regional coordinators within Environmental Health.
  • This temporary, remote role will support local authorities in preparing for the implementation of the Renters’ Rights Act.
  • The position is ideally suited to candidates with a Tenancy Relations Officer background or significant Housing Enforcement experience within a local authority setting.
  • The role is funded until 31 March 2027 and requires an average commitment of 2 days per week.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample)

  • Support the coordination and delivery of the Regulator’s Pioneer Fund project across regional teams
  • Provide expert advice on housing enforcement and tenancy relations matters
  • Assist local authorities in preparing for regulatory changes linked to the Renters’ Rights Act
  • Apply and interpret relevant legislation and enforcement procedures, including PACE, RIPA and CPIA
  • Contribute to the development of best practice guidance and operational processes
  • Liaise with stakeholders across Environmental Health and Trading Standards teams
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with compliance requirements
  • Participate in virtual meetings, workshops, and project updates

Skills/Experience

  • Proven experience as a Tenancy Relations Officer or in Housing Enforcement
  • Strong understanding of housing legislation and local authority regulatory frameworks
  • Working knowledge of PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act), RIPA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act), and CPIA (Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act)
  • Experience working within Environmental Health or Trading Standards
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex legislation in practical settings
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent organisational and report-writing abilities
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Experience supporting projects, programmes, or policy implementation
