Job Description

Our Field Operations teams protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating flood and coastal risk management assets across the country. The team provides advice and support to colleagues and external stakeholders, responds to flooding and environmental incidents day and night, and delivers mutual aid to support communities during flood events.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the maintenance programme by planning, scheduling and resourcing works.
  • Actively monitor team work to ensure high standards of health, safety and wellbeing are maintained and promote a proactive culture.
  • Ensure clear and concise site paperwork, assist on projects, take responsibility for work specifications and collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Ensure work sites are fully compliant with legal requirements and Environment Agency policies and procedures.
  • Identify, organise and coordinate training to test incident response plans.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proactive, self‑motivated and confident communicator who has experience working in field‑based teams.
  • Knowledge and experience managing health & safety in a maintenance and response environment.
  • Competent IT literacy – ability to use devices, Excel and databases.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities.
  • Good knowledge of Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).
  • Effective and inclusive leadership skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Health & safety accreditations are advantageous.
  • Required training: X63 CDM Principal Contractor training and SMSTS Site Management Safety Training Scheme (support provided).
