Service Lead Podiatrist - Ceredigion/Clinical Governance Lead

We are looking for a Service Lead Podiatrist – Ceredigion/Clinical Governance Lead to lead the delivery of all aspects of Clinical Governance across the Health Board for Podiatry and also ensure procedures are in place that support clinical practice, audit and research on a 3‑county basis.

The successful applicant will also hold managerial responsibility for the Podiatry/Orthotics service within the Ceredigion locality, deputising for the Head of Podiatry on all matters relating to this geographical area.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for service planning and development within podiatry in Ceredigion, and the overall planning for clinical governance within the 3 counties Health Board wide.

Prac­tise as an autonomous clinician within the vascular/diabetic fields, independently managing a highly complex and specialist caseload.

Ensure service development is grounded in robust evidence, challenging outdated or non‑evidence‑based practices. This requires the ability to critically appraise information and translate findings into current clinical practice.

Undertake advanced assessment and treatment interventions that may include: independent prescribing, injection therapy, interpretation of radiology, haematology and biochemical investigations.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Knowledge

• HCPC Registered Podiatrist/Orthotist
• Master's Level Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
• Demonstrate advanced, autonomous practice in the field of podiatry/orthotics, such as diagnostic imaging investigation, injection therapy, independent prescribing.
• Certificate in Health Education or Promotion
• MSc modules in podiatric/orthotic medicine in a specialist area
• Member of the Royal College of Podiatrists / BAPO

Experience

• Experience of effectively communicating very sensitive, highly complex condition‑related information to patients, relatives and staff members
• Extensive portfolio and evidence of continued professional development in practice/speciality, leadership, education and service development, including link to recent and significant relevant clinical practice at advanced practice level
• Expert knowledge of multidisciplinary teamwork within orthotics area
• Evidence of advanced decision‑making skills that reflect a patient focus
• Evidence of proactive involvement in the supervision and development of members of a multidisciplinary team
• Proven track record of successful service development
• Demonstrate a history of presentations and personal research
• Evidence of leading change in practice
• Experience of service development across professional boundaries
• Teaching & educational assessment experience

• Ability to travel across the Health Board area in a timely manner
• Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
