Transport Supervisor at Aylesbury Distribution Centre – Tuesday – Saturday 06:00 – 14:30

Job Description

As a Transport Supervisor you will take ownership of driver de‑briefs & briefs, route planning and communication, fleet compliance, and KPI administration tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage efficient route planning of delivery vehicles to move stock safely and efficiently.
• Monitor vehicle movements, adjusting plans to manage delays or issues.
• Ensure safe, compliant operation of vehicles (licences, inspections, defect reporting).
• Maintain compliance with all relevant procedures, including freight transport legislation, Rexel commercial vehicle operating procedures, audit, security, environmental and health & safety policies.
• Lead, coach, and support drivers – manage rotas, absences and performance.
• Maintain accurate records: deliveries, mileage, vehicle checks, fuel and paperwork.
• Liaise with warehouse/dispatch and customers to ensure correct loading and on‑time delivery.
• Manage relationships with internal customers and third parties to determine requirements and achieve service level agreements.
• Implement and promote safe working practices and transport regulation compliance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement: refine routes, loading processes and turnaround times.
• Ensure compliance of warehouse and transport procedures and paperwork.
• Control and monitor costs (driver overtime, absences, transport carrier costs).

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or lead experience in a transport or distribution operation.
• Comfortable working with predominately vans and some exposure to HGV operations.
• Strong communication and practical leadership skills – able to manage a small, busy team.
• Organised, calm under pressure and able to prioritise competing demands.
• Good IT skills for job planning and basic record keeping (experience with transport management systems is a plus).
