We are looking for a driven and experienced Assistant General Manager to support the leadership of a busy, food-led pub. This role is perfect for a strong hospitality professional ready to take the next step, working closely with the General Manager to deliver exceptional food, service, and overall guest experience.
As AGM, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the business, leading the team on shift, maintaining standards, and helping drive sales and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager in the daily operation of the pub
- Take responsibility for running shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient service
- Maintain high standards across food quality, service, and cleanliness
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety and licensing regulations
- Support recruitment, training, and development of team members
- Lead, motivate, and inspire the team during service
- Manage staff rotas and ensure adequate staffing levels
- Step in as duty manager in the absence of the General Manager
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional guest service and lead by example on the floor
- Handle customer feedback and resolve issues promptly
- Help create a welcoming and community-focused atmosphere
- Assist in managing costs, including labour and stock
- Support stock control, ordering, and waste management
- Help drive sales through upselling, promotions, and local initiatives
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure consistent adherence to brand standards and procedures
- Maintain excellent hygiene and food safety standards
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience as an Assistant Manager or similar role in a food-led pub or restaurant
- Strong understanding of front-of-house operations and service standards
- Passion for hospitality, food, and drink
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Good financial awareness and ability to support cost control
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
