Sports Development Officer
Permanent Sports Development Officer at Birmingham City Council (Grade C – £35,412 - £41,771). Consultation grade is subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review. Working 36.5 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends.
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and forward‑thinking professional to support the strategic development of Sport and Active Recreation across Birmingham. This role will help shape the city’s approach to increasing participation, improving wellbeing, and delivering high‑quality sport and physical activity opportunities for all communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert sports development advice.
- Conduct thorough research in Sport and Active Recreation.
- Support the implementation of Birmingham’s key sport and active recreation strategies.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Experience and understanding of the sports sector, including participation development and community engagement.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and influence a wide range of individuals and organisations.
- Ability to use initiative and strong negotiation skills, enabling positive outcomes across sports and active recreation participation.
- Proven project management capability, delivering outcomes that improve wellbeing through sport and active recreation.
- Experience collaborating with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.
