Electrical Supervisor - Water Sector
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Working Supervisor to oversee electrical maintenance, installation, and testing activities across water treatment and wastewater sites. The successful candidate will lead a team of electricians and contractors, ensuring all work is carried out safely, to industry standards, and in compliance with statutory regulations. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical knowledge, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and support electrical teams carrying out installation, maintenance, and testing works on water and wastewater treatment assets.
- Undertake hands‑on electrical work, including fault‑finding, inspections, testing, repairs, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including BS 7671, health & safety legislation, and site‑specific procedures.
- Conduct electrical testing and inspection in accordance with 2391 qualification requirements, producing accurate reports and certification.
- Plan and organise daily workloads, ensuring safe systems of work, method statements, and risk assessments are followed.
- Oversee subcontractors and act as the on‑site lead for electrical activities, ensuring standards and deadlines are met.
- Liaise with project managers, site managers, and operational staff to ensure smooth delivery of work.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, asset updates, and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote a positive safety culture across all sites.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Electrical Engineering.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) – essential.
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) – essential.
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) – essential.
- Demonstrable experience in electrical work within the water sector, including clean water, wastewater, or similar regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety procedures and safe isolation practices.
- Experience supervising teams or acting as a lead electrician/senior electrician.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
- Full UK driving licence.
