About the Role
We are a multidisciplinary sustainability consultancy delivering energy modelling, compliance, and building performance strategies across commercial refurbishment and fit‑out projects.
We are looking for an Energy Modelling Specialist with strong technical capability in IES VE and a proven track record of delivering real project outputs (not just exposure).
The role will support BREEAM/NABERS Assessments, EPC Compliance, and wider building performance analysis within commercial refurbishment and fit‑out projects.
Ability to Deliver
- Dynamic thermal modelling (DSM)
- TM52 overheating assessments
- TM54 operational energy modelling
- Non‑domestic EPCs and BRUKL reports
- Passive design analysis
- Part L compliance modelling
- Support Low and Zero Carbon (LZC) feasibility studies
- Contribute to BREEAM energy credits, including:
- ENE 01 (energy performance, whole building and component)
- ENE 04 (LZC technologies and passive design)
- HEA01 (Daylighting)
- Interpret results and produce clear, client‑facing technical reports
- Coordinate with design teams (architects, MEP, contractors) to inform design decisions
- Work independently across multiple projects and deadlines
Essential Requirements
- Strong hands‑on experience using IES VE (ApacheSim essential)
- Demonstrable experience delivering:
- TM52 overheating analysis
- TM54 energy modelling
- EPCs for non‑domestic buildings
- Solid understanding of:
- UK Building Regulations Part L
- Dynamic simulation modelling principles (e.g., CIBSE AM11)
- BREEAM RFO and New Construction
- Proven experience supporting BREEAM energy credits (ENE 01 minimum)
- Ability to produce high‑quality, technically accurate reports independently
- Strong communication skills – able to explain modelling outputs to non‑technical stakeholders
- Degree (2:1 or above preferred) in a relevant discipline
Critical Requirements that applicants must be able to provide
- Examples of completed IES VE models and reports (e.g., TM52, EPC, BRUKL)
- Clear explanation of their specific role in delivering those outputs
- Demonstrated involvement in BREEAM energy credits (not just awareness)
Desirable
- Experience with NABERS UK assessments
- Experience working on commercial fit‑out / CAT A & CAT B projects
- Familiarity with Part O overheating assessments
Candidate Profile
- Detail‑oriented and technically rigorous
- Comfortable working in a consultancy environment with multiple deadlines and integrates well with the rest of the team
- Proactive and able to manage workload independently
- Strong problem solving skills with a practical approach to modelling
- Ability to work with minimal oversight and deliver on programme
Additional Requirements
- Willing to commute to the Cobham office 3 days per week
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car
Level open to
- Strong mid‑level candidates (2‑5+ years experience)
- More senior candidates capable of leading modelling workstreams
