Overview
Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) is recruiting a Technical Sales Engineer for a permanent position based with our client in Scotland. Immediate start is available subject to the interview process. Salary is £40,000 to £60,000 per annum (depending on experience). The role is full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join one of the most technically advanced commercial teams within the cold rolled steel sector. The role focuses on new business development while maintaining and growing existing clients across Scotland and Ireland. The position is fully remote, with travel required for sales meetings at the factor, customer meetings (in person and via Microsoft Teams) and preparation of estimates and quotations. The role also includes responsibility for ensuring sales are delivered in full and that payments are received in line with agreed terms.
The candidate will sell into the purlin, mezzanine, and infill walling markets, with additional capability to offer laser cutting, pressing, and fabrication services.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience within the cold rolled steel sector.
- Strong understanding of steel framed buildings, purlin and rail systems, mezzanine floor joists, SFS infill systems.
- Experience in estimating cold rolled steel from general arrangement (GA) drawings.
- Excellent time and territory management, with the ability to plan routes, visits and follow‑ups efficiently.
- Strong rapport‑building skills, developing genuine relationships with a wide range of customers.
